7:21
The courtside blog is live from the Kohl Center for tonight's matchup between the Badgers and Idaho State. Just under 10 minutes left on the pregame clock and the Badger faithful are filing in....
7:23
The Badgers are of course looking to get back on the winning track after Saturday's loss to in-state rival Marquette, but the Bengals are hungry for a win, too. Idaho State has dropped three overtime games so far and took some lumps in consecutive losses to BYU and Washington State before knocking off Utah on Saturday.
7:24
We'll see how many Badger fans elected to avoid the snow that piled up in Madison over the past couple of days and catch this one live on Big Ten Network or the Wisconsin Radio Network ...
7:29
Another interesting note is the matchup on the sidelines ... tonight's head coaches have combined for numerous national coach of the year awards.

Idaho State coach Joe O'Brien won six while coaching at the junior college level, while UW coach Bo Ryan has collected two in NCAA Division I after earning four at the D-III level.
7:36
Player introductions are underway. Here are tonight's starters:

For Idaho State, G Amorrow Morgan, G Donnie Carson, F Demetrius Monroe, G Matt Stucki and C Devidas Busma.

For the Badgers, it's Landry, Hughes, Bohannon, Krabbenhoft and Nankivil
7:38
Marcus drops in a nifty one-hander and the Badgers are on the scoreboard at the 19:11 mark -- 2-0 in favor of UW
7:40
There's a 3-ball from Bohannon and it's 5-0 Badgers.
7:41
Another 3 from J-Bo. That's a good sign for the Badgers early
7:41
[Comment From Steve]
What's the attendance like tonight? I'm sure the weather kept some people home.
7:42
It definitely has had an impact so far. Plenty of people dressed as red seats tonight...
7:42
Timeout Idaho State after Krabbenhoft makes it 10-2 Badgers with 16:00 left in the half.
7:42
[Comment From oshkoshbadger]
I believe the Big10 is very underrated this year, with the likes of Michigan and Penn State as well as perennially underrated Wisconsin.  What do you think?
7:43
A lot of "experts" think the league as a whole will be better this year. Michigan's pair of wins over top-five teams has made that seem pretty accurate, at least early in the season.
7:43
First media timeout with 15:45 to play.
7:47
Marcus is good from outside on the Badgers' first trip out of the timeout. That is helping me forget the awful memories of the Nickelback cover of "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" the arena crowd was just "treated" to...
7:48
[Comment From Steve]
Any idea how much the team worked on rebounding since the Marquette game? I think that was exposed as a major flaw by an undersized Marquette squad.
7:49
They're holding their own so far despite the fact that Idaho State started four players taller than 6-5, including 7-footer Deividas Busma. Rebounds are tied at 5-5.
7:49
Speaking of boards, Nankivil comes up with a big rebound on the defensive end, and he'll go to the line after hauling in a missed 3-pointer by J-Bo.
7:50
But first a media timeout at 11:58.
7:50
[Comment From apache jct badger]
are they too big for us to get into the paint?
7:51
I don't know about being "too big," but the Badgers have taken half (6 of 12) of their shots from beyond the 3-point arc. They're 2-for-6 from downtown, and that's the reason they hold a four-point lead. The Bengals have yet to hit a trey.
7:52
Leuer is waiting to check in ... he'll be the Badgers first sub of the game.
7:53
He replaces Keaton, who hit both his free throws to extend the UW lead to 14-8.
7:54
Trevon gets run down from behind by Idaho State's 6-11 center, Lucas Steijn. Kind of a funny sight...
7:54
Landry with a putback! Badgers are on a 4-0 run out of the media timeout.
7:55
Leuer (who doesn't give up much height to anyone) snags an offensive board and drops in a putback to make the Badger lead a double-digit one, at 18-8.
7:55
[Comment From Steve]
Do you find the new live blogs to be fun or a hassle?
7:57
It's been a lot of fun so far. Any time we can get fans more access to the Badgers, it's a good thing.
7:58
A block on the defensive end and then a finish by Tatum for the Bengals ... not a good sequence for the Badgers ... it's 18-13.
7:58
Krabbenhoft is back in for Jarmusz, and Jordan Taylor and Rob Wilson are on the floor, too.
7:58
[Comment From Ali]
Yeah, I really appreciate this blog. I'm sitting 2 blocks away from the Kohl Center but only have half season tickets, so this helps me pretend like I'm there...and can study at the same time! So thanks!
7:59
Finals are coming up, so if we can bring you the action without interrupting your studies, all the better.
8:00
Leuer gets a bucket, and then a defensive board. Badgers looking to put together a run here.
8:00
Jinxed him. Leuer draws iron on a 3-point attempt.
8:01
And Morgan hits a trey on the other end for the Bengals, who have pulled within four.
8:01
Nice offensive board by Wilson (at 6-4), but the Badgers can't finish with a bucket.
8:02
A foul on Leuer takes us to a media timeout.   Badgers on the wrong end of an 8-2 run here.
8:02
[Comment From apache jct badger]
what's the call on j-bo as far as his production?
8:03
He's 2-for-6 from the floor, with all six shots taken from 3-point land. He really hasn't been scrapping inside for rebounds with the big boys, but he hasn't needed to. The Badgers own a 16-11 lead on the glass.
8:04
8 offensive boards for the Badgers so far. Not bad against a Bengals lineup featuring plenty of size.
8:04
[Comment From Jim]
Looks like the three ball isn't falling, we need to get the ball in the paint more.
8:05
The Badgers are 2-for-11 from 3-point range and 6-for-14 inside the arc.
8:06
Busma (the 7-footer) called for a charge. Let's see if the Badgers can get something going on the offensive end over the last four-plus minutes.
8:06
Kal Bay hits a 3 ... Idaho State has the lead at 21-20.
8:07
Krabby dives into the seats after a loose ball   to take us to the last media timeout of the half. Some good hands over there at the scorer's table...
8:08
[Comment From Tom]
what a hustler. always has been.
8:09
I still have visions of him flying over me on press row and ending up two rows deep during the first exhibition game. All he could think about was apologizing to the fan whose lap he ended up in.
8:11
[Comment From D-Rass]
understandable-he came there to watch the game from the stands and instead he got a close up with krabenhoft. then again, it's sort of like reaching your hand out at a concert and having the lead singer touch your hand.
8:12
There were certainly no hard feelings over it...
8:12
We're tied at 21 after Krabby hits 1-of-2 at the stripe.
8:13
J-Bo knocks in his third triple of the night ... let's hope that's a sign of things to come.
8:13
It is, but not quite like I meant. Donnie Carson answers with a trey on the other end for the Bengals.
8:14
Bengals take a timeout after Marcus drops in a bucket to put the Badgers' lead at 26-23 with 1:34 to play in the half.
8:14
[Comment From Jim]
What's the problem, our defense our their offense?
8:15
There probably isn't a lot of concern on the UW bench about giving up 23 points in a half to a team with that much size. The Badgers' scoring difficulties (32 percent shooting so far) are probably more of a problem to Bo and his staff.
8:16
Bengals lead, 27-26, after a basket by Stucki, and the Badgers take a timeout. Clock shows 21.2 seconds.
8:17
[Comment From apache jct badger]
yes, but it doesn't sound like we have a team shooting, only a couple
8:17
Marcus and J-Bo are a combined 7-for-15 from the floor ... the rest of the team is 3-for-16.
8:17
Make it 8-for-16 ... J-Bo splashes a trey to close out the half. 29-27 Badgers.
8:19
I'll be back in a few!
8:19[Be Right Back Countdown]10 minutes
8:31
Some halftime stats for you:
Rebounds: UW 18 (9 offensive), ISU 14
Shooting: UW 34%, ISU 48%
3-Point Shooting: UW 27%, ISU 33%
Turnovers: UW 4, ISU 6

8:32
[Comment From scott]
what are last year seniors up too these day and how are they doing?
8:33
Brian Butch is now playing in Germany, Greg Stiemsma is playing Turkey, Michael Flowers in playing in Germany and Tanner Bronson is coaching in the NBA Developmental League
8:34
Stiemsma is playing in Turkey. He is not playing against a Turkey. Sorry for any confusion.
8:34
[Comment From Jim]
Looks like offensive rebounds is the key to why we are winning/along with turnovers
8:35
They are definitely a factor thus far. The Badgers have hauled in nine of a possible 21 misses on their end. Not bad at all.
8:35
[Comment From Steve]
I thought Butch signed with a Chinese team?
8:36
He did originally, but is now balling in Turkey.
8:36
Badgers take a full timeout after the Bengals grab a 31-29 lead.
8:36
[Comment From Tom Abrams]
Sorry about your luck guys I moved to Florida 6 years ago. tonight the weather is a balmy 72 degree's
8:37
So it was you I was cursing in my mind this morning as I was digging my car out....
8:38
A 4-0 run for the Bengals out of the half was not what the Badger coaching staff was looking for. We'll see what kind of adjustments they get out of this timeout.
8:39
Marcus finds the bottom of the bucket. He has 10 points on 5-for-8 shooting.
8:40
[Comment From Tom Abrams]
yup. I love your blog. you guys do a great job. I feel at home reading it and seeing the comments. Keep up the good work. I was in Wi for thanksgiving then hurried back to fl
8:40
There should be more than a few Badger fans heading to the Sunshine State later this month to cheer on the football team in the Champs Sports Bowl.
8:41
Landry again for the Badgers ... knots things up at 33-all.
8:42
And Krabby follows with a basket after the Badgers snare a defensive board. UW leads, 35-33 and the student section is getting into it.
8:42
Media timeout at 15:49 as the Badgers have put together a 6-2 run here.
8:45
Monroe misfires on a pair of free throws ... and Krabby drops in a layup off a nice interior pass from Landry. 37-33, Badgers.
8:46
Badgers have ratcheted up the intesity a little bit here.
8:48
Leuer grabs his sixth rebound and draws a foul. Badgers own a solid 24-16 advantage on the glass ... and Leuer finishes on the other end, too.
8:48
Bengals want a timeout as the UW run has extended to 8-2.
8:48
[Comment From Jim]
I'm yelling at the television but my voice isn't heard. Can you yell for me?
8:49
I would, but I'm trapped in a glass case of emotion.
8:49
Big shot there for Stucki. Hits a deep 3-ball as the shot clock ran down under 3 seconds.
8:50
Great baseline move by Leuer, but no call on contact that cases him to misfire.
8:50
causes him to misfire.
8:51
It's Leuer again to extend the Badgers' lead to 41-36. He's got 8 points to go along with 6 boards. And he's tall.
8:53
T-shirts are raining down from the rafters here as we go to the under-12 media timeout. Kind of a cool sight as they float down attached to little parachutes.
8:54
And, no. I didn't catch one.
8:54
Jarmusz and Wilson join Krabby, Leuer and Trevon on the floor out of the media timeout.
8:55
Nice job of fighting through a screen by Jarmusz, and nice help-side defense by Leuer, but the Benglas cut the lead to 41-38.
8:56
[Comment From pat]
has jarmusz scored?
8:56
Negative, ghostrider. Of the Badgers' 41 points, Landry, Bohannon, Leuer and Krabbenhoft have accounted for 39.
8:58
Trevon banks home a triple after shaking off some contact ... Badgers have had to adjust to a 3-2 zone look from the Bengals the past couple of trips down the floor.
8:58
There's Marcus ... he has 14 on 7-for-10 shooting.
8:59
Not sure what the Badgers have for second-chance points, but Marcus can take credit for most of them tonight. Great work on the offensive glass and another putback have the score at 46-40 Badgers.
9:00
Media timeout with 7:45 to go.
9:00
[Comment From Karie]
Have the bengals been playing zone on the badgers the whole game?
9:01
It was a 2-3 look for most of the first half, but they've brought three guys out front recently to help defend the Badgers' shooters.
9:02
After taking plenty of 3s in the first half, the Badgers have gone inside for 10 of their 15 shots so far in the second half. They're 7-for-10 shooting inside the arc since halftime.
9:03
[Comment From Karie]
What about Bohannon, hows he doing shooting wise?
9:03
He's 4-for-10 from 3-point range. Not a bad night, but probably not the clip he would hope to shoot at.
9:04
Trevon converts on a pair of free throws to extend the lead to 48-40.
9:05
They really need to stop putting the Oscar Mayer ad up on the front of the scorer's table. I'm getting hungry.
9:06
[Comment From Dana]
they should deliver food to you.
9:06
Yes, Dana, they should. I'll work on that for Saturday
9:07
[Comment From Troy]
ok so what is the score??
9:07
49-42 Badgers, with 5:52 to play.   You can access live stats here.
9:08
[Comment From Troy]
so what your saying is they aren't going to break the record they set on this day in 1967 when they scored 120??
9:09
Unless Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen walk in the door right now, with NCAA eligibility remaining, I doubt it.
9:09
[Comment From Rick]
I give credit to Landry -he has a tough match up and is hanging in there.
9:10
The Badgers give up plenty of size to the Bengals, but they still are up 29-21 as far as rebounding goes, and   Marcus leads all scorers with 14.
9:11
Media timeout at 3:54. My bet is those watching on Big Ten Network will see an ad for Ro-Tel.
9:11
[Comment From Troy]
1st ad is Advance Auto Parts...
9:11
Keep me posted. The Ro-Tel ad is a staple.
9:12
[Comment From Troy]
3rd is Big Ten Classic.... when Butch hit the 3 to beat Indiana
9:12
Not a bad alternative to cheese dip...
9:14
[Comment From Troy]
NO ROTEL.... now you owe us all Chips and Cheese
9:14
Just wait ... it will come eventually.
9:14
Leuer powers inside to extend the Badgers' lead to 53-46. Nice move.
9:14
[Comment From Todd]
Logging onto blog from Phoenix, thanks for excllent coverage.  Feels like right there in student section.
9:15
As long as you wave your arms whenever Idaho State is at the free-throw line.
9:15
[Comment From Ali]
From Phoenix, named Todd? Hi dad! Go badgers!!
9:16
That's what we're here for. To connect Badger fans everywhere.
9:17
[Comment From Todd]
Ali...keep studying Physics at commercials and time outs.  But prioritize.....UW Basketball is #1 priority.
9:17
Especially with a six-point game with 1 1/2 minutes to play!
9:18
Trevon hits 1 of 2 at the line ... it's a 54-47 lead
9:18
Timeout, Bengals. 30-second variety.
9:19
[Comment From Troy]
you are ahead of us.... not fair I was going to take over for you so you could get something to eat
9:19
Sorry I jumped the gun there. It was actually 1:39 to play. Now there's 1:34 left. I'll see what's left of the media buffet when this one's over....
9:20
[Comment From apache jct badger]
i think our rebounding have kept us in this game, not shooting
9:20
True statement. A 33-23 lead in rebounding (15 offensive) with 38% shooting for the game.
9:20
Bucket by Morgan cuts the lead to 3 with 40 seconds left
9:21
Bay is whistled for a foul and J-Bo gets a chance to make it a two-possession game.
9:21
First one is good.
9:21
[Comment From Todd]
Go J-Bo
9:21
He has 30 seconds to think about the second one. Bo calls timeout.
9:22
[Comment From Karie]
He's my favorite!
9:22
You can't go wrong with a guy from Iowa.
9:22
(the state that is)
9:22
There's the second. It's 56-51.
9:23
Busma gets an offensive board and a putback to cut the lead to 3 again. Full timeout, Bengals. Oh right, I should exhale.
9:23
[Comment From John]
How much time is remaining?
9:23
25.4 seconds.
9:24
Timeout, Badgers, as J-Bo gets trapped in the far corner. Those guys are large.
9:25
[Comment From Dan]
why is it everytime i study its a close game... and i cant look away from this blog?!
9:26
[Comment From apache jct badger]
your call - how do you feel about this game
9:26
Badgers have a foul to give and are in the double bonus. That helps.
9:26
Here's Leuer at the line for two. And he gets the first.
9:27
Badgers lead, 57-53, 17 seconds left.
9:27
Krabby with an in-bounds pass in front of the Idaho State bench. 8.9 to play.
9:28
[Comment From Troy]
WOW that was close
9:28
Too close...
9:28
J-Bo goes to the line for two.
9:28
Makes the first.
9:28
It's 59-55 Badgers, 8.9 to play.
9:28
Stucki hits a 3 to cut the lead to one, 59-58, with 2.1 seconds left.
9:29
[Comment From Daniel]
Ha. love how the blog is in front of the big ten network
9:29
I'm just that good.
9:29
Here's Trevon for a pair.
9:29
Gets the first.
9:29
Now Idaho State gets the ball, down 2, with 2.1 to play.
9:30
Can't get a shot off! Badgers win, 60-58!
9:30
[Comment From Karie]
YEAH!
9:30
[Comment From Todd]
Sweet!!!!
9:30
[Comment From Sara]
WOW what a game!
9:30
Agreed. On all counts!
9:31
A good win for the Badgers, and another tough loss for the Bengals. They've seen too many end this way this season.
9:33
Ok (exhale) that's all for me (exhale). Check back to UWBadgers.com for complete post-game coverage of tonight's win. I'll have the "Beyond the Box" feature, and you can also look for a live webcast of post-game comments from coaches and players.

Thanks for following along and Go Badgers!
9:33
[Comment From Karie]
no ro-tel commercial though..im dissapointed
9:34
Don't worry. It will happen sooner or later!
9:34
Thanks again!
