9:25
The crew is on set and we're preparing for the College GameDay folks to begin taping some segments for today's show.
9:26
Pretty exciting atmosphere already as more than 1,200 Badger fans have filled up one side of the Kohl Center in advance of the live broadcast.
9:27
There were 440 fans waiting at Gate B of the Kohl Center once the doors opened at 8 a.m. ... and a number of students spent a snowy night camping out for a prime spot.
9:29
Rece Davis and Digger Phelps are in the middle of the madness right now walking through the intro for the show. So far they've got the students to cooperate for a quiet opening and then cranked them into a frenzy by blasting 'Jump Around' over the Kohl Center sound system.
9:30
Interesting side note ... ESPN had to get clearance overnight to use the House of Pain song in their broadcast. Not sure what the price tag was, but it's providing a great effect for the show's intro.
9:31
The UW band is here and has the crowd cranked up, too. Great turnout by the UW students already ... and we're a half hour from broadcast time.
9:32
Digger is quite the emcee for the unofficial pre-show festivities ... the students seemed like a bunch of sheep following his commands to welcome Rece to the floor.
9:33
The biggest ovation, by far, was for Bob Knight as he made his enterance to the set. As the crowd chanted "Bobby Knight" he snuck up behind Bucky and started dancing along to the band. Great stuff.
9:38
Expand
9:39
There's an overview of the scene from this morning.
9:39
Digger is at center stage right now ... dancing with a UW cheerleader
9:42
Another note ... we have Howie Schwab in the house today as a producer for ESPN. You may know him better simply as "The Schwab." I plan on quizing on the last 16 highlighter-tie combinations used by Digger.
9:44
Just had a question about whether or not the piece of the old Kohl Center floor where Bob Knight spiked his clipboard, which was auctioned off recently, will make a return to the arena today. Not sure on that .... those 4x8-foot pieces are hard to move!
9:44
Another question on whether or not fans can still make it for the broadcast ... Of course! Get on over here!
9:45
(As you've noticed I, at least for now, cannot post user questions/comments directly to the blog. We hope to get an official ruling on this soon, and in the meantime, I will try to get to as many of your questions as possible. The only difference is you won't get to see your name -- or screen name, anyway -- in lights)
9:46
Just had a question on a live stream for today ... we will not be streaming it live on UWBadgers.com because ESPN owns the rights to its own show. We will have a video highlights package online soon, however.
9:49
Someone is wondering whether or not Bob Knight's dance will make the video package ... I am told it will!
9:51
Expand
9:51
There's a shot of the frenzy that erupted once they began playing 'Jump Around'
9:53
Bob Knight is addressing the crowd with Bo at his side
9:53
He's got the students cheering for Bo after talking about how he has "done as good a job during that stretch of time as anybody in the country."
9:53
And now we get our first rendition of Varsity of the morning...
9:55
Another question wondering whether ESPN will be streaming the show online ... I'm not sure about that, but they do post clips of each of their College GameDay stops online at ESPN.com.
9:56
Bo is done addressing the crowd and we're getting closer to showtime.
9:57
I was just going to comment on how Bob Knight is the only one not smiling or laughing it up on the set ... and then he starts mugging for photos
9:58
We have a "Be My Valentine, Bobby" sign sighting.
9:59
My other favorite so far? The giant yellow highlighter just behind the set. That guy went all out.
9:59
You could hear a pin drop in here as they prepare to film the opening.
9:59
It's not this quite in here when the arena is empty!
10:00
Those 'Jump Around' rights were worth every penny!
10:01
We have a 'Marcus Landry' chant as the show opens.... and there's the band with On Wisconsin.
10:02
Cheerleaders, flags, they're pulling out all the stops for the opening of the show.
10:03
Not sure if that boo was for John Thompson III or not....
10:04
OK ... no doubt that boo was for Rece's mention of Minnesota
10:05
Plenty of cheers for the Badgers, though!
10:10
Expand
10:12
There's a shot of the broadcast crew ... they're up and talking to fans and anyone sitting near the court right now during a break.
10:13
During breaks they talk to fans and work to pump up the crowd.
10:13
Right now they're standing courtside for this segment.
10:13
Bob Knight is still at the desk
10:14
And there go the house lights ...Digger is sitting at the scorer's table for this segment.
10:14
Even though I can't post them straight to the blog, keep the qustions/comments coming!
10:15
Not a warm reception when Jerel McNeal of Marquette was announced for this segment ... a chant of "Marcus Landry" broke out.
10:15
The show is up on the scoreboard so the fans can see what's happening, and there are speakers on the floor so the fans can hear the hosts' audio.
10:16
We are somewhere in the 1,600-1,700 range now that things have filled up a little more
10:16
Question on signs in the crowd ... all that were provided by ESPN were the little sliding signs that say State Farm on one side and 'Go Badgers' on the other ... plenty of fans made their own, anyway
10:17
Digger heads back to the set and there's a big swell of applause once the guys standing courtside come back live
10:18
Here comes the GameDay dunk contest....
10:19
The entire lower level of the arena is full on the side behind the ESPN set ... nice showing by the UW fans
10:21
Question on whether Jason Bohannon will be featured in the dunk contest ... probably not, but here's proof that J-Bo can, in fact, dunk.   If you haven't been following the pre-game Vlogs (video logs) on UWBadgers.com ... you can catch up here. Good stuff.
10:22
Question on the timeline for today ... the show is over at 11 a.m. ... but there will be another live broadcast at 7 p.m. in advance of tonight's game and a number of pieces during other games throughout the day.
10:22
Expand
10:22
There's a shot of Jay Bilas with Bo before the show started this morning ... there will be more Bo action to come.
10:25
A heads-up: ESPN's resident bracketologist, Joe Lunardi, will be on for his Last 4 In, First 4 Out segment on the other side of this feature on K-State's Denis Clemente. The Badgers are sure to be involved in Lunardi's analysis.
10:26
Told you ... Lunardi has the Badgers as one of his last four into the NCAA Tournament
10:27
A rose for Digger ... looks better than that green carnation he had when the crew was at Notre Dame...
10:30
Badgers against Kentucky in the proverbial blind team matchup ... you know who the crowd thinks should be in the tourney
10:32
Bob Knight pumping up the crowd ... maybe he is just tired for listening to Digger
10:32
And a big cheer as Bo makes his enterance onto the Kohl Center floor
10:34
Bo, Marcus Landry and Joe Krabbenhoft are setting up with Bob Knight, Jay and Hubert for today's instructional segment.
10:35
Biggest applause yet as Rece introduces Bo and the guys
10:36
Coach Knight is showing Marcus how it's done right now
10:36
Now it's Bo's turn to teach
10:37
Bob Knight and Bo go one-on-one
10:38
Now Joe gets involved as Bo really gets into it
10:39
Hubert shows he hasn't lost it as he demonstrates some moves on Joe ... and Coach Knight.
10:40
Big cheer as Bob gets fired up ... 'Throw the Chair!" chant from the crowd!
10:40
Interestingly, that's the same chant he entered the arena to.
10:43
Expand
10:43
There's some of the one-on-one action between Bo and Bob
10:44
Question on whether anyone is dressed in hunter's blaze orange ... no. I'm kind of disappointed in that.
10:44
Expand
10:45
There's Bo during his teaching moment with Marcus
10:46
Be warned, Badger fans. The talk is about to shift exclusively to the Big East for the next few minutes.
10:46
Although we do have a student dressed in a hot dog suit who will attempt the half-court shot for cash...
10:47
So there's something for everybody.
10:48
So DIgger is playing it straight today ... he goes with the purple tie-highlighter combination. Rece on the other hand went with the red tie ... which is OK when both teams playing tonight are primarily red.
10:49
Hot dog update: He looks calm and is tossing the ball around in anticipation of his big shot.
10:50
Here's something for you ... in addition to all of the producers and camera operators on the floor for today's boradcast ... there also is a makeup artist on site.
10:51
They've cleared the floor for the half-court shot attempt. And the large novelty check from State Farm is in place.
10:52
There's the weiner himself.
10:53
Appropriately, a "Let's go weiner" chant has broken out.
10:53
... but it's all for not.
10:53
Now Bucky and the hot dog are going one-on-one.
10:53
We'll give it to Bucky.
10:56
Expand
10:56
Rece and the representative from State Farm with the weiner.
10:56
Impossible to hear the guys' picks with the band and crowd noise right now.
10:57
Expand
10:57
There's a nice overview of the scene during the show.
10:58
And we're on our fifth-consecutive run through On Wisconsin from the band.
10:58
It's non-stop with these guys right now.
10:58
.... and again with On Wisconsin
10:58
So here's the pick you've been waiting for
10:59
Just had a comment that at least it's not Rocky Top being played over and over. Good point.
10:59
Hubert likes the Badgers tonight
10:59
So does DIgger
10:59
So does coach Knight!
10:59
And Jay makes it 4-for-4 from the hosts
11:00
That's what the crowd wanted to hear ... can't imagine how mercilous the students would have been if Coach Knight picked against the Badgers
11:00
Well, that's it for now for the broadcast, but the crew is going to stick around to film a few pre-recorded pieces for the rest of the day
11:00
They're going to tape a segment for halftime of games right now.
11:01
Coach Knight knows how to play to the crowd ... he qustions Digger's call that this is the rowdiest stop so far for College GameDay.
11:01
Expand
11:02
There's the blogger himself in action.
11:02
Don't tell my mom I'm sitting that close to the TV. I was always told not to do that.
11:03
Just had a qustion on the prizes for the students that showed up this morning ... free coffee and Coca-Cola products for all and GameDay t-shirts for some.
11:05
Some great signs out there today ... "My (heart) belongs to Bucky Badger" ... "Erin Andrews will you be my Valentine?"
11:06
Expand
11:06
There's a good shot of the giant highlighter in case you missed it during the broadcast.
11:06
Expand
11:07
There's your proof ... Badgers are the pick for tonight's game.
11:08
There's an "I love you, Jay Bilas" from the crowd during a break in the action.
11:08
From a guy.
11:08
Expand
11:09
Another good shot of the crowd and the guys at the desk.
11:15
Well things are wrapping up for now here on the floor ... ESPN will be back live at 7 p.m. for tonight's edition of College GameDay, and you can follow the broadcast of tonight's game between the Badgers and Ohio State on ESPN, as well.

Also be sure to follow along with the Courtside Blog on UWBadgers.com
11:26
Well things have pretty much calmed down, so I'll sign off for now, but be sure to join me again tonight for the Courtside Blog of the Badgers' clash with Ohio State. I'll be online beginning at 7:30 p.m.
