5:15 p.m. ET
After a short walk-through the players were bussed over to Raymond James Stadium and had a few minutes to check out eh locker room and the stadium itself. Everyone was out taking photos of the famous pirate ship and with teammates (especially the special teamers).

A couple of Outback Bowl reps were on hand to make sure nobody actually went onto the field which was being outfitted with the Outback Bowl logo at midfield. The team returned to the hotel for meetings and a team dinner before getting their last night’s rest before an early wake up for tomorrows game.

Fans are all headed down to Ybor City to catch the UW band in the parade and bring in the New Year. I am just about to leave and head down there myself to enjoy the weather and celebrate 2008. I’ll check back in tomorrow live from Raymond James Stadium and the 2008 Outback Bowl.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Reporting from the hotel after a morning at the Florida Aquarium and some relaxing by the pool. One of the students who works in our office (Mitchell) stopped over to the team hotel this morning and we went exploring at the aquarium with our free time. There was a ton of neat animals to check out and interact with (you could pet stingrays and sharks). There were some animal shows to check out but we didn’t have the time.

After the aquarium, we stopped from for some lunch and hung out at the pool until practice this afternoon. Soaked up the sun and visited with some Badger fans, including the Hoesly family who are in town from Brookfield, Wis.

Well now we are off to the high school for a walk-through and then over to Raymond James Stadium quickly. After that we have a busy New Year’s Eve starting with the parade over in Ybor City, followed by a staff dinner, then a fireworks display at midnight over in the Channelside district.

Check back later for photos and a report of the evenings events.

10:00 a.m.
Reporting from the hotel again this morning. Justin and Coach B just got back from his press conference while I was down in the lobby reading the paper. It was the first time this week that I didn’t have to go do something in the morning.

I’m going to take advantage of my free time this morning and head over to the nearby Florida Aquarium. (photos will be up later).

I ran into some other Wisconsin student-athletes last night. Meghan and Sophie from the women’s crew team and their friend Michelle are in town for the game and are excited to get out of Wisconsin and the snow for a little while.

Later this afternoon the team has a walk-through and stops over at Raymond James Stadium to get a little bit of a feel for the surroundings.

I’ll check back later with a report from practice.
