It's a little after noon here in West Lafayette. Yesterday was fairly uneventful as we were able to get out of Madison before it really started snowing. We took off at about 2:45 and the flight was only abot 40 minutes, just enough time for us to eat our Atlanta Bread Company sandwich box (turkey or ham, chips, cookie, pickle). We flew on a smaller, regional jet (see the picture with Henry below).
We got to our hotel at about 5 p.m. and then left for practice around 6:30 p.m. We had our normal two-hour practice, ran through possessions, did some shooting at the end. The ESPN announcers, Dave O'Brien and Doris Burke, took in practice as well.
Some Purdue students were already camping outside Mackey Arena last night. I guess their student secton, The Paint Crew, is general admission so the best seats are first-come, first-serve. There were probably about five tents and 20 total kids as we left practice at 9 p.m. It's not as cold here as it is in Madison but the low last night was around 20 degrees.
We got back to the hotel and ate (lasagna, chicken fingers, steak, broccoli, mashed potatos ... the normal stuff). Guys then retired to their rooms. Sometimes the guys order movies and then all pile into a couple of rooms to watch. No word on what the movie was last night.
We didn't have a shoot-around this morning. The guys had a wake-up call at around 10 a.m. Scouting report lasted from 11-noon and we had our meal (breakfast foods) at noon. We'll leave around 2:15 to head over to Mackey.
Though we flew down here, we are bussing back tonight so I'll have plenty of time to blog. So in addition to the Courtside Blog, I'll try to have a Bus Ride Blog as well.
